This time of year I always seem to become more reflective, more mindful of the power and importance of gratitude in my life. I pulled out M.J. Ryan's wonderful book, Attitudes of Gratitude, and am using it as my morning meditation over the holiday season. These words especially spoke to me this beautiful fall morning.
"The particular beauty of an attitude of gratitude is that it instantly connects us to everything else. In an important way, it is the recognition of the connection, the switch between us and the rest of life. And consciously recognizing it opens the flow: the more grateful we are the more of an abundant sense of life we will experience."
I often tell clients when they experience depression or low energy feelings to switch to gratitude for it is impossible to be depressed and grateful at the same time. Even in the worst of times we can find something to be grateful for. Give it a try and over these holiday months when we tend to get overwhelmed and frantic and sometimes lonely or depressed make it a point to return to gratitude. Mark your calendars for my special Gratitude Gathering Brunch and Wisdom event at St. Martins Wine Bistro on Sunday, November 16th from 11:30-1:00 when I will share more on the concept of gratitude and its impact on our mental and physical health.
Stay well, Molly
