Before you go see the Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, watch the first Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. A group of us did that last night and although I have seen it 6 times before, I was still inspired by the wonderful message in this fun and beautiful movie. We all go through times of transition and disappointment and know what that fear of the unknown can do to us. Learning to thrive not just cope with new situations is the challenge. With any change comes the opportunity of adding new color to the tapestry of our lives. Meeting new people, seeing new parts of the world, learning new skills, and most importantly feeling empowered and inspired when we Do It! are the gifts of transition. Taking risks allows us to be free.
I read somewhere "one doesn't discover new lands without losing sight of the shore for a very long time." So as we go through the discomfort of changes be they chosen or imposed, focusing on the gift of the new, the power and importance of the present moment, and remembering that we have been making changes since we came out of the womb rather successfully, and perhaps asking yourself what life would be like if we never did something new and different might help us to remain peaceful and purposeful and grounded. As Sonny in the movie says and believes, "Everything will be ok in the end, so if it's not ok, it is not yet the end." Now I am headed to see what the residents of the Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel are up to as they continue their journey.
