STOP SCARING YOURSELF! A STRESS MANAGEMENT TIP

Unfortunately high levels of anxiety are prominent in our society. As a specialist in anxiety management, I suggest a couple of basic skills that will do wonders in calming you and your bodies down if you will only take a moment to practice them.
I was talking with a client yesterday about managing his work stress and obsessive thinking. (Who out there does not struggle with that from time to time?) Here are a few tips I gave him.
#1 Stop scaring yourself with your thoughts! The body is the battlefield for the warfare in your mind.
Panic and anxiety attacks, as uncomfortable and scary as they can be, are simply put, an Adrenaline Rush. It is basically the body going into the "flight or fight" mode responding to the scary movie you are playing in your mind. When you make the challenges of work, relationships, family, etc into a life or death situation in your thoughts, your body will respond accordingly. It is called the autonomic nervous system. When you scare yourself with the "what if" thoughts, you automatically put  your body into "on guard" mode. Don't turn an unfortunate or challenging situation into a life threatening situation. How you talk to yourself has a huge impact on your body. Love yourself enough to talk as calmly and as rationally as you would to a 5 year old who is afraid to walk into a dark bedroom or who is starting the first day of school.
#2 Change the way you look at things and your body will respond as will your attitude and your overall sense of serenity.  How we view the not so fun challenges or difficult people in our lives can truly make a major difference in our health and happiness.
See an ending as an opportunity for great new things to come into your life; see that intimidating boss as a teacher who has come into your life to help you get better at standing up for yourself or learning to say No without fear.
Yes it is hard to wave goodbye to things we feel safe holding onto, but that is why the rearview mirror in your car is small and the windshield is big.  You can't drive forward while staring in the rearview mirror all the time.
If you change the way you look at what is behind you or ahead of you, you will change what you are actually seeing and most importantly you will feel positive energy feelings instead of negative or toxic energy which keeps you stuck and often makes you sick.

So make a vow to stop scaring yourself  and let me know what you notice about your level of anxiety and stress. Take loving care of you for without you nothing else really can work.
