LESSONS FROM A KITTEN

As a volunteer at the SPCA, I love watching the cats at the Jan Reese Jones center when I would be cleaning the windows in the cat area. They not only make me smile, they remind me of the importance of simplicity. The cats live purely in the moment, fully enjoying what they are doing as they are doing it. The cats have the best time with simple, readily available things such as string and crumpled paper. Most of the time they do what they want to do, probably what brings fulfillment as a cat. Wouldn't it be great if we all could marvel in the simple and readily available, that we could be joyous with what is near at hand-friendships, family, hearty soup, reading by the fire, watching hummingbirds. It is a gift to be simple because simplicity is one of the foundations of true freedom and joy.  I invite you to take delight today in something that is simple and near at hand. There is a hymn that says: "Tis a gift to be simple, Tis a gift to be free."
Stay well, stay joyful, stay grateful.
