Getting a good night's sleep is as important for our overall wellness as is good nutrition, positive thinking, good breathing, and exercise. One of the things that I suggest to my clients is to first of all understand that what we fall asleep thinking about will marinate in our subconscious. I heard this from one of my mentors, Wayne Dyer, several years ago and it pretty much got my attention. So, be mindful of what you are focusing on and thinking about before you fall asleep. I suggest that everyone fall asleep with thinking gratitude thoughts. Think them until you fall asleep. No matter what is going on in our "worlds" we can always come up with something we are grateful for. I remember when my Mom would sit by my side when I was a little girl and we would say a simple prayer each night that was short and sweet and mostly blessing everyone I knew including my gold fish and my parakeet. I never had problems sleeping. The same skill can work for us adults who get way to caught up with the negative or fearful energy that can be around us at work or even at home. Positive affirmations work! I have practiced and taught the power of them for years and seen scared, depressed, and anxious people become calm and quiet and positive just by changing their scary and depressing thoughts. Here is a great affirmation for you to say before going to bed each night. I REST WELL. I SLEEP PEACEFULLY, AND I AWAKEN WITH JOY!
