A SPECIAL BLOG FOR "PERFECTIONISTS"

When working with clients to better balance their lives, to manage stress or anxiety or to simply find peace with one's self and others I point out 5 characteristics that contribute to stress in our lives. Those characteristics are:
          >  PERFECTIONISM >NEED TO CONTROL OR FIX>OVER-ANALYZING
                       >TOO MANY PRIORITIES >PEOPLE PLEASING
Perfectionists are so hard on themselves and sadly it is such a futile behavior because there is no such thing as perfection, and as I often say to my clients, "you will go to your grave with never feeling good enough." That is a very sad thought. There are so many better ways to use your energy and to enjoy the journey on this planet. So, "perfectionists", it is time to go beyond that attitude. Mistakes are the way we learn. Being "perfect" will not get your parent's (or anyone's) love and approval-it will only make You feel "wrong" and not good enough, and it will definitely add to your stress level and create ulcers, high blood pressure, and digestive problems. It makes you stiff and grumpy and not so much fun to be around. Lighten up and stop treating yourself  that way. Forgive yourself as you do others for not being perfect. Let it go. Give yourself permission to be spontaneous and free. I invite you to go out and play and run and laugh and love and most importantly just enjoy every moment being yourself . Practice doing "B" or less than perfect behavior, and I believe that you will learn how much more fun and enjoyable life can be when you put your energy toward more productive attitudes.. So love yourself and "get off your back".
Stay Well!
Molly
