THE SIMPLE JOY OF LIVING FROM A GRATEFUL HEART
If you look to others for fulfillment, you
will never truly be fulfilled.
If your happiness depends on money, you will
never be happy with yourself.
Be content with what you have; rejoice in
the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking,
the whole world belongs to you.
----Lao Tzu
Gratitude can eradicate worry! In her
wonderful book, Attitudes of Gratitude, How to Give and Receive Joy
Every Day of Your Life, M.J. Ryan tells how she was a compulsive worrier
and after applying gratitude thinking to her life was able to let worrying go.
She writes that nothing that she had tried was as effective as tapping into a
sense of appreciation in this moment for what she does have. Tapping into gratitude works for two reasons:
first, worry is always about the future, whereas gratitude is about the here
and now. Gratitude brings you back to the present moment, to all that is
working perfectly right now. Tomorrow may bring difficulties, but for right
now, things are pretty good.
Gratefulness also eliminates worry because
it reminds us of the abundance of our Universe. Yes, something bad might
happen, but given all that you have received so far, chances are you will
continue to be supported on our journey through life, even in ways you would
never have guessed or chosen for yourself.
YOU CANNOT BE GRATEFUL AND UNHAPPY AT THE
SAME TIME. So, in those moments when you find yourself down in the dumps,
filled with anxiety and worry, start writing down everything that you are
grateful for right now. A gratitude journal is a wonderful way to create
positive energy in your body and a calm and serene mind both of which help you
to be healthy and happy.
It costs nothing to write a gratitude
journal and has amazing benefits for the body, mind, and spirit.
Try it-it Works!
Stay well! Molly
