EMOTIONS AND HEALTHY COPING

In the Wisdom of Inside Out Event at the Angelica Theatre on August 18th, I use this amazing movie to teach, guide, motivate and inspire attendees about the importance of understanding our emotional aspect in order to maintain healthy mind, body, and spirit.
As Pete Docter, the co-writer and director of this award winning movie, shares:
"Feelings have jobs that are fundamental to us as people. Emotions are key to the most fundamental thing in our lives which is the connections we experience as people. Those relationships are brought forward thanks to deep wide and varied emotions, people that you've had good times with but also have been sad with and angry at. All these things are what create deeper connections."
We know that not expressing feelings leads to depression, anxiety, irrational thinking, rebellious or inappropriate behaviors, and to misunderstandings.
Why do we resist them and why do we often run from them or stuff them when we know it is destructive? It is sad to me that we seem to fear sharing our most important and deepest feelings with those who matter most to us and then wonder why we are not successful in our relationships.
It is my hope by providing coaching and guidance and inspirational events that promote wellness and by helping clients find healthy emotional coping skills we all begin to practice better communications skills. I hope that by trusting your feelings and understanding them you will let them become your friend and your guide to better mental and physical health and happiness and a truly colorful and rich life.
Emotional safety is crucial for open and honest communication so let's all make it safer for our children, our employees, our spouses, our friends and our families to share their feelings and their dreams and hopes.
Please remember as you work on your personal Wellness that it is not just about exercise and nutrition, it is about taking care of the whole person, the physical-emotional-intellectual-and spiritual aspects. Wellness is understanding that everything we Do, Think, Believe and Feel has an impact on our Heath and over all well being.
This is the holistic approach to a successful, joyful, and meaningful life.
I hope you will join me in September and October for more Wisdom and Wellness events.
Stay well, All!
